Hope for Future Generations
Well are the powers to be starting to look beyond their powerful supporters and looking for the problems with our health? Just came across this article from Men’s Health magazine and thought it pretty relevant. It does not mention any of the artificial sweeteners but at the end of the article does talk about “high fructose corn syrup” in just about all of our processed foods.
In short they are beginning to see a relation between all of the industrial chemicals and pestisides and obesity. They are calling the chemicals “obesogens” (endocrine-disrupting chemicals or EDCs). The article is 3 (internet) pages long and makes some very interesting reading. Perhaps there is hope for us yet. It may take another 2 or 3 generations to get rid of all this stuff in our food and water supply and begin a healthy recovery.

Re: Hope for Future Generations
PatB, nice to see a post from you. It's been a while.
Thanks for your info - this information is great to share. There has to be hope - the common sense of how dangerous unnatural foods really are will finally sink in - before it's too late...

Re: Hope for Future Generations
I had gastric bypass surgery in 2007. I thought life was finally going to go my way. I lost 199 lbs in the last three years. One year after the surgery I started experiencing terrible bloating and gas that would put a skunk to shame. I called my weight loss doctor and was told that I was probably drinking to much soda and as for the smell, I could take an internal deodorant. None of this worked. I lived with this problem for another year. I recently had to have some surgery and while in the hospital was feed intervenously. I felt great the only problem was that my blood pressure dropped and my white blood cell count dropped dangerously low. None of this could be explained by my physician. Once I was allowed to eat again, I of course went back to eating sugarfree products again and started feeling terrible. I went on for another month, and decided to research the possiblity of toxic posioning from the sugarfree products on the market. I was surprised once I started researching. I realized from the list of side effects what was wrong with me in a matter of minutes, and doctors all keep telling me it was just normal because of the weightloss surgery. I have been off of the sugarfree products for a week now and am feeling better every day. I was a label reader because of my weightloss surgery, now I read the labels for a new danger. I am making an appointment for a hair analysis so I can have some kind of documentation. I have started finding alternatives to all sugars, honey and stevia are my sweetners. I have to watch what I eat and drink much closer now, but at least I found the problem early before I had a more severe or deadly reaction.
I posted this message in another forum room and didn't get a very good reaction due to not being very scientific, sorry that it wasn't and I wasn't looking for sympathy. I didn't realize I had posted in the wrong forum room. I was just hoping to post something that might open someone elses eyes as mine were. People who have gastric bypass surgery are suffering with this more and more everyday. I found the website sugarfree blues a very eyeopening experience. Thanks.

Re: Hope for Future Generations
I think your post is awesome, and I hope those who have had gastric by-pass will pay attention!
I will forever be perplexed why people have a hard time accepting this very common-sense warning about the dangers of aspartame and all the man-made chemical sweeteners. I am equally gobsmacked that any medical doctor wouldn't have the common sense to know this. I know it is a taboo topic with the AMA, but that in itself serves to show us that modern medicine isn't what it was intended to be - it is no more than a money-generating business. Good doctors are out there - just hard to find.
People are getting very ill from the diet sweeteners, and there is no excuse that any practitioner should dismiss this fact.
Keep up the good work, and please keep sharing your story with others. It is very powerful!
