Requesting futher information on Aspartame

Hello,

Aprox 2 weeks ago I had reason to think that I had aspartame poisoning because I had 13 of the 92 symptoms. Now I am not so sure if it was exactly that or something else because according to research, you'd have to have more than 1500 gum sticks for your system to be poisoned but I only had 150 sticks of gum in 1 week.

Now, In the last 2 and a half days I have been having a lot of gum (almost 200 sticks) and I started to feel strange. My head was numb, and afterwords, it simply started to hurt badly. The problem I am having is, someone has told me that its not possible to be poisoned on 200 sticks of gum even if I had them within 2 and a half days and they even showed me that aspartame was safe by giving me a link to a goverment webpage claiming aspartame is FDA approved and the last study they had on aspartame was 2005, which basicly means that I could have 1000 sticks of gum within a day and not get sick. Is any of this true?

Further details:
I am chewing Trident "Now longer lasting gum" which is fairly new since 2008, it is sugar free of course and contains aspartame and there are 18 sticks.

Re: Requesting futher information on Aspartame

You should ignore those numbers as they are meaningless. Probably derived from testing on animals. Everyone has varying degrees of sensitivity and can only absorb so much poison. AspartameŽ is stored and accumulates over time, so it may seem harmless or a long time and then suddenly hit you. To add to the fun, other conditions, drugs or food additives can interact and worsen the symptoms. Vasoconstrictors are bad, nitrites, caffeine or stimulants are bad, MSG is bad. Being physically cold is bad. All or some of these can trigger an episode, so trying to isolate one big cause is unproductive.

I would also add that the FDAs recommendation has no value, since the agency is a wholly owned subsidiary of corporations.

Re: Requesting futher information on Aspartame

Yes, the last test in 2005 was on rats and the FDA still confirm that you could get cancer from the stuff, but there was nothing about getting poisoned, etc... I did find and watched a TV program actually on Aspartame a couple days ago and apperently aspartame was tested by human in China and other countries and at lest 7000 complaints came back with many side effects and poisoning. I also learned that even after the test in 2005... in 2006 someone had died from aspartame poisoning. So with all that evidence, I should probably not listen to the FDA.

I also might add that I had a 500ml coke yesterday along with a few packs of gum and within a matter of minutes, I started to feel pains in my system and I had extreme trouble breathing, in fact I almost stopped breathing. I had to run outside of the school to get air. This breathing trouble... Could this be caused at all from when I had gum and coke together?

and as a side question... since it was almost 200 sticks of gum in 2 and a half days... should I go to hospital and have that checked out? A few people said it would be a good idea because I had breahting issues....

and not that I want to but... I am currently living with a violent person and with this whole aspartame issue... I've been gaining nothing but extreme depression and it's been scaring me lately because I've been getting horrible thoughts. What should I do about this?

Re: Requesting futher information on Aspartame

Stop the aspartame in any and all forms ASAP. Strengthen your body, mind, and spirit by building your strengths and ditch all the diet fizz - it'll keep you weak and feeling ill.

Don't doubt this - a poison is a poison is a poison. One drip of gasoline a day will eventually tear your health to pieces. The methanol in that aspartame you are using has accumulated, and Gnarlodious is spot-on.....you are at saturation level and you are now turning in a downward direction using aspartame and any toxic food chemicals.

Take a deep breath, collect yourself, design a future strategy to get your life back on track - emotionally and physically. They go hand in hand, and one supports the other. Purify your life in all ways, and ditch the toxins! ALL of them.

Re: Requesting futher information on Aspartame

When you say 'Don't doubt this' does it mean that I may have a possible minor poisoning or you don't think I do?

And I don't have diet drinks, they're gross but the coke I did have was a real coke, with caffeine (non-diet) and I got a reaction from that when it mixed with 200 sticks of gums worth of aspartame in my system right away.

Even today... my head was really numb, I had extreme dizziness to the point where I could not walk for a few hours at all, my head was numb and my eye sight decreased a little by blurring and my left eye hurt badly to.

Re: Requesting futher information on Aspartame

I would say that you had a "minor poisoning" until recently when you suddenly displayed symptoms. At that point, your lymph system, liver and kidneys were no longer able to clear out the toxin and those systems are now in backlog mode. The overflow is what is affecting your nerves.

Before reading the case stories on this forum I never would have believed AspartameŽ was addictive. Now I see people who stubbornly resist getting off the "drug". It is a field that needs medical research to determine exactly what about the chemical is so addictive. When I took it, it was mildly like methedrine or ephedrine.

You might take a look at your behavior to determine what is so appealing about the drug. Its possible something less toxic would assist you in kicking the habit. But any replacement drug is also going to tax your already overtaxed system.

Re: Requesting futher information on Aspartame

SorkStar - I am saying that you are reacting to aspartame, no matter where it is coming from, and a minor source, such as gum, means little when it contains a toxic chemical. That said, sugar-free gum with aspartame and the other diet chemicals is more toxic than you think. Digestion begins in the mouth because enzymes  within your saliva begin breaking down what you are chewing in the mouth. So, you are breaking the aspartame in the gum down as you chew and swallow. For the length of time that you are chewing your gum, you are poisoning yourself swallow by swallow. So, you are getting a very chronic hit of toxic gum chewing. And you chew a lot of it.

Gnarlodious is right; you have hit a saturation level, and until you stop adding more toxins to your already present toxic level, you are simply adding fuel to the fire inside of your body. No wonder you are reacting more and more as time goes on. You need to stop all the diet stuff, detox, and restore the nutrients these chemicals are robbing from your body.

I never drink when I eat because it washes way the enzymes in the saliva. I taste my food better, too. I take a drink after I have swallowed.

Re: Requesting futher information on Aspartame

I relize now that Aspartame poisoning is more serious than I thought it was and reason I say this....

Well, I'm not going to lie. Last Monday I think I had far too much Aspartame in my system and the reason I say this is because I had a pack or 2 more of the gum in 1 night simply because I was upset and just wanted something to do, to take my mind off of it. Before I go further, I want to point out that I've had some depression for the past couple months simply do to minor issues but when I was having all this aspartame, the depression doubled.

I can't really remember much that happen on Monday but talking with some friends online, they became concerned when they learned that I never stopped the aspartame, after the drug store told me to. As a result... that night I got really upset over a situation that occur'd and I heavily broke down and I didn't know what I was doing. Online, apperently the way I talked to these friends and or people I dont know, they took it all the wrong way and kept telling me to call 911 as if I was going to harm myself. I am not one to be going to a hospital so I never bothered so as an alternitive, they suggested I go to sleep so I would stay out of harms way, which was 8 at night. So I done that and the next day, I told a friend of mine what had happen on Monday night, so at lest 1 person is aware and now she is just kind of helping me through to stay off the aspartame, etc. I even showed her the previous messages posted on this topic to. So now I am 3 or 4 days without aspartame, and I am hoping to continue and hopefully will never get another product containing aspartame again, for a real long time.

Thank you for your assistance everyone, it is well appreciated.
