Topic: Phenylalanine

Hi, have been having cola (coke) drinks which contain phenylalanine.  About 2 weeks ago and this morning my uvula has been swollen.  The only other thing I've had differently is Jaffa biscuits which contain Emulsifiers (471 - Mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, which is derived from soy).  I have also had pains in right side of head for years - been to specialists.  Latest one is a Neck & Head Surgeon/Specialist - who is sending me off for an MRI.  My blood pressure is high and I'm on medication for that.  Anyway just wondering if the coke drink could be the (or 'a') cause of swollen uvula.  Thanks so much.

Re: Phenylalanine

Anytime aspartame is used and health symptoms occur, common symptoms or those that are some what out of the ordinary, always stop the aspartame and then see if you need to go for that expensive MRI.

Remember that something is causing this - every effect has a root cause. Searching for the cause and eliminating it is the first thing you need to do to determine WHY this is happening in the first place. Once the cause is found, remove it, and then see if your symptoms go away. Most times they do, but if they don't, you can then make decisions on what to do next.

Re: Phenylalanine

Thanks for that.  Will certainly try.

Re: Phenylalanine

Let us know your progress and how you feel aspartame-free.

Re: Phenylalanine

I wished I had known of you and your site, BEFORE, lol, I purchased  a nutritional therapy drink called Juven. It contains Phenylalamine  and Aspartime. After reading the ingrediantes  I thought I better check out the Phenyl. chemical as I am not familiar w/ it.  What is your take on this please and I will wait your recomendations before taking. thank you.

Re: Phenylalanine

muypro - It contains Phenylalanine  and aspartame?  It's not worth your money. Do you want energy?  Then take your vitamins, eat a balanced diet, and supplement with an amino acid complex or protein powder. Supplement with raw adrenals two or three times a year, move your body, and get plenty of rest. That ought to do it!!
