Topic: What does gooseberry mean to Keralites?

Go to any vegetable and fruit market in Kerala in September/October, and you will surely be attracted by the pile of fresh looking gooseberries. Keralites are so much related to this fruit, that anyone born and brought up in Kerala will have a nostalgic `taste' on his tongue

Wow, awesome post.

Re: What does gooseberry mean to Keralites?

Thank you for your beautiful post; it was written with such respect for this natural and healthy fruit. Nature provides all animals with the foods needed to maintain health; modern humans in countries like America have sadly fallen prey to the gluttony of sweet tastes and the taste of fats. We are raising a generation of kids who don't even know what a gooseberry is - sad, isn't it? For those of you who live in a country with these natural "treasures" so available to you, continue to appreciate them and thank their plethora of nutrients oozing from them. All animals appreciate these natural foods - humans must remember to do that, too. You have done that, radel12 - thank you again for your lovely post.
