Topic: Making your own soda? Stay away from the prefab stuff!

Hi All. Second post and first thread-saw a great article your readers might like. A friend got a sodastream machine a couple of years back and I thought it a great gadget til I tasted some of the syrups. Awful and she also started diluting them then giving up and just buying regular cane sugar-based syrups (popular here in Europe) or juice! Seems they use Splenda in their stuff and it is a bit expensive too boot.

There are other brands out there too to make your own fizzy drinks-much cheaper and healthier.

Well unless you mix vodka or rum in them. *ahem*

(Just on occasion). wink

That's interesting. You can purchase fruit syrups like cherry and blueberry, for example, and mix those with sparkling water or just plain water. Those make a great natural soda, too.
