My horrid aspartame tale.. I'm sorry it's lengthy

STAY away from that stuff! I am 27,  generally a very healthy young, professional adult. I had been drinking diet sodas alot since I started my career 5 yrs ago. And for those 5 yrs, my docs said I had "so called" IBS. PFFFFFTH. I do not!

See, around Thanksgiving, I started getting really, awfully sick. My weight plummetted, I had huge huge bowel movements all the time, food went right through me. I dropped to under 80 lbs and I was eating around the clock and trying not to burn any calories. The doc said I didn't eat enough and that's why I felt hungry. WHAT??? I couldn't go an hour without trying to fill myself. The food just flew through my stomach and intestines. Very ick!

My blood tests showed nothing, nothing! though my thyroid was suspected. I couldn't figure it out. Additionally, now here I was with this awful poison flu feeling, always, joint pain, major major major ! abdominal problems, circulation issues... everything. I couldn't figure it out. All I did was ask and ask myself "What is happening to me?" I actually called my mom each night to tell her if I didn't wake up in the morning that I loved them all dearly. Honestly. I thought I was dying.

See, I drank a couple diet sodas a day, plus had those packets in my coffee in the am. I thought... "maybe it't the diet stuff??" So, knowing it certainly couldn't hurt, as I was already on death's bed, I stopped consuming it. Cold turkey (YOU CAN ALL DO THIS, I SWEAR!) I also looked to see if there was information supporting this, and that's when I came across Dr. Hull's book. BOY is there info out there! We should already be taught this stuff.... I was flabbergasted and agry that I didn't know...

Well, well. The first week I had horrendous headaches and still many bowel movements, but without the pregnant bloating look. After that, and after switching to as many organic foods as I could, as I also ran into Trudeau's Natural Cures book, my life changed completey. COMPLETELY.

I finally stopped the bloating (5 YEARS OF FEELING LIKE I COULD NEVER HAVE A REGULAR BM. FIXED!) My headaches are gone. My joint pain is gone! All my nails are thick and strong... I had lost a nail on my thumb which completely regrew. My skin is radiant. I put back on the healthy wieght and no longer feel like my body is attacking itself. I feel awesome. Tons of energy. My coworkers ask me what I've done?! I lent out my SWEET POISON book so they could get a grasp on what I believed.

Guys, that was the holidays. This is February. In a matter of weeks without aspartame, my life completely changed.

The best is that I no longer have that "poisony feeling" all running through me. That was just so scary awful. I constantly thought I had the flu, cancer, etc. The ALSO best part is the NO BLOATING! And I now have REGULAR bowel movements. I thought for life I was going to suffer with digestion. Nope.

People, please, if you are consuming any bit of that stuff, please stop. Please. I believe it is so harmful. It builds up and hits you like a ton of bricks, and it's just a nasty battle with your health. I almost died. Please stop, even the gum you chew!

I am SOOOOOO grateful to Dr. Hull. My family is astounded by the turnaround. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for giving me a new life!

Re: My horrid aspartame tale.. I'm sorry it's lengthy

Hi Patti, your story sounds a bit like mine.  I too was 27 when everything started to set in.  I am now 28 and have been off aspartame for 2 weeks now.  I used to drink diet coke as well as use sweetener packets in my coffee.  The thing that threw me over was my gum obsession, as you can see from my post a few days ago.  I would eat a pack of gum a day.

"Sweet Poison" is on the way in the mail, but I was wondering how long it took for you to feel 100%?  LIke I said I just completed two weeks of completely cutting out aspartame and I feel worlds better, but I still have some muscle/nerve pain.  I also have been eating mostly organic and for sure all natural!  I look at every single ingredient on everything that goes into my mouth.

Im so happy that you have found the answer to your health issues and are getting your life back!  If you have time read my story too, it's posted a few days ago under my user name angelsRgr8

Thanks a lot!

Re: My horrid aspartame tale.. I'm sorry it's lengthy

It is so wonderful you discovered the issue, too, before it was too late! To tell the truth, I felt worlds better each day the first week. But then I took a cold med, and BAM! They contain sucralose or aspartame, depending on the brand, and I felt like crap again... but short-lived. You have to read labels everywhere.

It gets better each day, and I'm sure everyone's body is different, but it does get tons better. SWEET POISON should be a NY Times bestseller! You will surely love the book.

The nerve pain and all went away slowly, and now I can jump, run, climb stairs... I couldn't do that for a couple years... I felt like I should have been in a nursing home. Yet, I'm 27, thin, high spririted, and was a track star many years.  I got so sick I had to stop the gym and everything.

Now just a few weeks and I can do many things again! Please, keep up with it, read ALL lables carefully, even REGULAR cough drops, gets LOTS of vitamin C, E and Calcium, and just keep treating yourself right. NEVER touch that poison again.

Re: My horrid aspartame tale.. I'm sorry it's lengthy

Thanks for the reply Patti!  Thank you for the advice.  I can't wait until the book comes.

I too was an athlete.  I played a lot of sports all of my life.  I used to regularly go to the gym 4-6 days a week, bike, rollerblade...all that fun stuff.  I hadn't done any of that in months as I too felt like I was 95.  I kept telling my husband I thought I was going to die too.  I was always healthy, thin and in shape as well.

In the last week I have been able to go to the gym again!  yikes)  It isn't at the intensity that I was at, but it is about 40 mins of cardio which I am so amazingly thankful for.

I have been reading all of the labels of every single pill or medicine I might take too.  I threw out anything that I sad had aspartame or artificial sweeteners in them.  I got a cold the first week too so I just drank a ton of water, ate oranges, took my daily vitamin and rested a lot.

Thanks again for the encouragement.  Hopefully I will feel 100% in a few more weeks.  I just can not believe what that poison can do to someone.  And, our government allows it?  Thats sick!

Best
